TCM Cupping is an ancient healing therapy based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) concepts. Cups made of plastic or glass are applied to the body via suction to create heat on specific meridian body points. Since ancient times, people have used cupping for a variety of health conditions as an alternative medicine-free treatment.

Stationery cupping: Cups are placed on the body for 10-15 minutes

Moving cupping: Cups are moved along the meridian body points for 5-10 minutes. This technique can cover a large body area in a shorter time period.

Fire cupping: A lighted cotton ball is placed inside the cup to create a suction effect that holds the cup in place on the body. This technique is effective for eliminating cold and dampness from the body.

Acupuncture cupping: An acupuncture needle is inserted into the specific acupuncture point, and a cup is placed over the needle. This produces a stronger healing response in the body. This treatment is done together with TCM Acupuncture.

How TCM Cupping Works

TCM Cupping is believed to improve qi flow by improving blood circulation. Blood vessels expand when the heat or suction energy of the cup is placed on the body, causing increased blood flow and nutrients to promote cell repair. In addition, cupping also clear blood stasis, expel dampness and remove heat-toxin substances from the body to reduce swelling and pain. Overall, you should feel a boost in energy due to a stronger immune system and smooth energy flow in the meridian channels.

Treatment Process

Before the treatment, our physician will conduct a full body analysis and health assessment to determine the treatment area to focus on.

Once the treatment areas are identified, the physician may place plastic or glass suction cups on the targeted meridian points.

Plastic cup method: a pump at the top of the cup sucks out air to create a vacuum space inside the cup that creates suction.

Glass cup method: a small flame is lighted inside the cup to create suction.

Our physician may combine different cupping techniques for different health conditions.

The cups are left on the body for the desired time period before removed.

It is common for marks to appear after the cupping session, which will disappear within a few days or weeks depending on your body condition.
